# Can I @ Individuals In Chat Conversations?

Yes, you're able to use the @ symbol when targeting a message at a particular person in a team chat - Here is how you can do this:

**Desktop App**

* You can click the @ symbol shown in the "type message" box next to the send button in the bottom left hand corner
* You can also simply type the @ symbol on your keyboard when you're in the "type message" box

**iOS App**

* You will need to click the @ symbol shown under the "type message" box

Once you tap the @ symbol, both the desktop app and the iOS app, will show a pop up of the people involved in your team chat. From here you can select the person you would like to target the message towards.

If you would like to know more about how the @ feature works, then please drop us a message on [support@intheloop.io](mailto:support@intheloop,io)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.intheloop.io/frequently-asked-questions/can-i-individuals-in-chat-conversations.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
